Thoughts on Parenting

We take the role of being parents as a privilege and an enormous responsibility.  We’re thrilled with the chance of making a difference in the life of a child and helping him or her become the best person they can be by providing an abundance of love and respect.  Being a positive role model is something we’ll always strive for and making sure our child knows he or she is loved unconditionally will be our goal.

Both of us plan on taking time off work when the baby arrives at the house.  Our jobs provide a lot of flexibility.  Michael is given a very generous amount of time to stay home with the baby initially and Brad already works from home most days.  We plan on being very active parents to our child, making sure they know we’re always there for them.

We are involved in a great church called Glide Memorial Church.  It is made up a very diverse group of people and on any given day you could be sitting next to Oprah, the mayor of San Francisco, or a neighbor simply looking for some form of guidance for the week ahead.  There are many children’s programs we look forward to getting involved with ranging from the children’s choir, poetry and writing, or one of the many volunteering programs in which children can participate.
